Luísa Maita Featured on Brazilian TV

Brazilian singer Luísa Maita takes on the work of the legendary Elis Regina, one of bossa nova’s most revered stars, on the Brazilian TV series Cantoras do Brasil (Singers of Brazil) which was recently broadcast on Canal Brasil TV. Check out the gorgeous black and white video here. While Luísa is exploring a more electronic direction on her forthcoming album, which is currently in production in Brazil, she reveals on this video that she knows her way around classic bossa nova as well.

Since she returned home after her last US tour in July, Luísa was a featured vocalist in the closing ceremony of the London Olympics. Luísa was also a featured artist on this summer’s tribute album to Brazilian legend Caetano Veloso. Other featured artists include Beck, Céu, Seu Jorge, Os Mutantes and more. She has also been invited to perform at the Google Zeitgeist conference in Phoenix, Arizona in October, an annual invitation-only gathering of executives, artists, writers, journalists and a variety of innovators at the forefront of today’s “Zeitgeist”.

Luísa is currently recording the follow-up album to her 2010 debut Lero-Lero. She will be releasing a new single this fall and the new album will be released sometime in 2013.
